Pieces With No Edge in Bewildering Stories

wiki image

Bewildering Stories includes Pieces With No Edge in issue 411, published December 6, 2010.

This is an unusual poem inspired by two paragraphs in Scientific American, March 2010, page 47, paragraphs 3 & 4. The paragraphs discussed research showing the retina able to sense 10 billion bits per second, but the optic nerve, cerebral cortex, and finally the brain optic center able to process only 100 bits per second. This suggested how the brain was able to function without being overwhelmed by input. From this I created a fictional theory and this poem of sorts.
